Mukona successfully completed the geotechnical investigation and slope stability assesment for the new 10ML Schoonoord Reservoir in the Sekhukhune District Municipality.

Client: Aphane Consulting Engineers

Key Collaborations:

Mukona carried out visual recording of rock mass conditions and mapping of structural discontinuities within the road cutting along the spiral access road leading to the reservoir.

Key Facts: Slope stability anylisis and geological mapping

Scanline mapping was conducted to record orientation and condition of joints, surface bedding, faults and induced fractures. This method is used to establish the predominant discontinuities present and characterise its surface condition for an assessment of stability.

Key Services Provided: Geotechnical Engineering

A kinematic analysis was conducted to evaluate the potential rock slope stability failure modes.
