Mukona Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd was appointed to undertake a centreline materials investigation to support the road design and construction planning the upgrading of approximately 21.4 km of existing gravel road to a surfaced tar standard along Road Z456 and Road D2242, extending from Road P48/1 to Road R49 through the villages of Reagile, Nyetse and Mokgola near Zeerust in the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality, Northwest Province.
The investigation focused on establishing the nature, condition and engineering properties of the existing pavement layers, underlying subgrade and potential borrow materials for possible re-use during construction, including the introduction of Nano-Modified Emulsion, which is a pioneering environmentally friendly soil stabilisation technology to improve low quality local road materials.
