Mukona Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd was appointed to undertake the geotechnical investigation and dolomite study for the proposed 115 MW (AC) Postmasburg Solar PV Plant located near Postmasburg in the Northern Cape.
The investigation was conducted to characterize the subsurface conditions and provide engineering recommendations for the design and construction of the proposed solar facility and associated infrastructure.
Project Objective
The primary objective of the project was to determine the geotechnical characteristics and engineering properties of the subsurface materials to support the design and construction of the proposed solar PV development.
The investigation provided the geotechnical parameters required for the design of heavy, medium, and lightly loaded structure foundations, internal roads, access roads, and associated infrastructure, while also assessing dolomite-related geotechnical risks across the site.
