Mukona conducted geotechnical investigation for the proposed ACWA Power DAO 370.49MW Solar PV, BESS and overhead power line project near Groblershoop in the Northern Cape Province.
The Investigation scope included 211 rotary cored boreholes, 94 test pits including centreline, infiltration testing, 331 soil thermal & electrical resistivity surveys, and laboratory testing.
Duration: The main site activities were completed within a period of 2 months with the thermal resistivity completed in 5 months. The thermal resistivity entailed excavation of test pit and thermal resistivity testing at a depth of 0.5m, 0.8m and 1.2m within the test pits. Samples were collected and submitted to the lab for dry-out curves.
